Tellmi Expands Free Mental Health Support Across Barry and the Surrounding Areas
Press Release
Tellmi, a safe and moderated mental health support platform commissioned by the NHS and trusted by schools and health services for over a decade, is expanding access to its services across Barry and surrounding areas. This initiative is made possible through generous funding from Texel Foundation and The LEN Foundation, and a partnership with local charity Cadogs Corner.
The new programme will provide free mental health support to adults and children from the age of 11, offering access to Tellmi’s digital peer support community, professional moderation, and a wide range of wellbeing resources. The platform enables users to share experiences, seek advice, and receive support in a safe, anonymous environment monitored by trained professionals.
Mental health challenges remain a growing concern across Wales. According to Public Health Wales, around one in four adults experiences mental health difficulties each year, and young people aged 11-18 are increasingly reporting anxiety, loneliness, and low mood. Data from the Welsh Government’s Wellbeing Survey shows that over 30% of residents in the region reported feeling anxious or stressed in the past year, with young people particularly affected by social isolation and academic pressures.
“Texel Foundation is strongly committed to improving mental health outcomes for children and young people, who too often face barriers to the support they need. Our partnership with Tellmi and Cadog’s Corner represents a powerful opportunity to change that. Together, we aim to make a meaningful, lasting difference for families in Barry in the years ahead.”
Emily Bild - Foundation Manager
Tellmi’s expansion aims to address these challenges by offering accessible, stigma free support to the Barry community and beyond. The partnership with Cadogs Corner will also help connect digital support with local initiatives, ensuring that residents can access both online and in-person help when needed.
“At Cadog’s Corner, we see every day how important it is for people to have somewhere safe to turn when they are struggling. This partnership with Tellmi allows us to connect our community with free, accessible mental health support alongside the practical help and face-to-face support we already provide.
We are proud to be part of a project that removes barriers to support and ensures that children, young people, and families in Barry know they are not alone and that help is always available when they need it.”
In addition to providing free digital support, Tellmi will actively collaborate with local schools, youth groups, and community organisations across Barry and surrounding areas. Through these partnerships, Tellmi offers free mental health resources, workshops, and campaign activities aligned with key awareness days, such as Children’s Mental Health Week, World Mental Health Day, and Anti-Bullying Week. These initiatives aim to promote open conversations about mental health, equip young people with practical coping tools, and empower educators and community leaders to foster supportive, judgement free environments.
"We’re proud to partner with Texel Foundation, The LEN Foundation, and Cadogs Corner to make mental health support more accessible than ever in Barry and the surrounding areas. Together, we’re ensuring that anyone over 11 can find a safe space to talk, listen, and heal."
